WHAT IS SEMI-PERMANENT MAKEUP?

Semi-Permanent Makeup is a treatment used to enhance the eyebrows. It includes using either a handheld tool or machine to create hair-like strokes to mimic your natural brow hair or shading for a filled in look. This is done by using super fine, tiny needles to implant pigment into the skin to create the appearance of fuller brows.

IS THIS TREATMENT SUITABLE FOR ME?

This treatment cannot be performed if any of the following information applies to you:

- You are pregnant or breastfeeding.

- You are taking blood thinning medication.

- You suffer from keloid scarring.

- You are undergoing Chemotherapy or Radiotherapy.

- You have had the Covid-19 vaccine in the last 2 weeks.

- You have had botox in the last 2 weeks.

- You suffer from blood pressure problems.

- You have taken Accutane or Retin-A in the past year.

HOW LONG DOES IT LAST?

This depends on each client as everyone's skin and lifestyle is different but on average it will last up to a year before it starts to fade and needs topping up. Colour boosts are advised every 9-12 months to keep the colour looking fresh but this will vary with each individual. This is dependent on factors such as oily skin, sunbeds and sun exposure which will cause your brows to fade faster, requiring more frequent top ups.

WHICH TECHNIQUE WILL BE BEST SUITED TO ME?

If you have oily skin then Microblading will not be suitable for you, a Powder brow would be the better option. If you are wanting more of a natural look and your skin is normal-dry then Microblading would be the perfect choice for you.

Powder and Combination brows are more 'filled in' and fuller compared to Microblading. Powder brows is a great choice if you prefer the makeup look, these can be done as soft or as bold as you like. Combination brows is the best option if you want a mix of both hair strokes at the front to give a realistic effect but also added fullness throughout the brows.

IS IT PAINFUL?

This is dependent on each individual client as everyone's pain threshold is different. With the majority of client's pain is very minimal and is more of a slight discomfort rather than painful. Numbing cream will also be applied during the treatment.

DO I NEED TO DO ANYTHING BEFORE MY TREATMENT?

- You will be required to come for a patch test at least 48 hours prior to your appointment. (This can be done at the salon or posted out to you).

- If you are planning to have the Covid-19 Vaccine then you must wait 14 days after having the vaccine, before getting this treatment done.

- Please avoid getting your eyebrows waxed, plucked or threaded up to a week before your appointment.

- Avoid sun beds for 2 weeks before your appointment.

- If you have any imminent holiday plans in the sun it is advised to book your appointment no less than 14 days before you go on holiday.

- Please ensure you avoid drinking alcohol or caffeine within 24 hours of your appointment as this will thin your blood, resulting in your brows not healing as well as they should.

- Avoid taking Ibuprofen, Aspirin and Vitamin E up to 48 hours before your appointment.

HOW LONG IS THE HEALING PROCESS?

It will take 14 days until your brows are fully healed if you have followed the recommended after care advice. You will then require a top up session 5-7 weeks later and then they will take a further 14 days to heal.

WHAT IS THE AFTERCARE ADVICE?

You will be given an aftercare ointment after the procedure which you must apply every hour on the first day of the treatment and then twice a day there after for 7 days. You must also not get your brows wet for 7 days after the treatment. After the procedure the after care advice will be explained in detail and you will also receive an in depth aftercare sheet to take home with you.
